Therapeutic Approach
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
A compassionate, evidence-based therapy that helps you understand and harmonize the different parts of who you are.
What Is Internal Family Systems?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a transformative, evidence-based psychotherapy model developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz. It is based on the understanding that the mind is naturally made up of multiple sub-personalities or "parts," each with their own perspectives, feelings, and ways of relating to the world.
IFS does not treat these parts as problems to be eliminated. It sees each one as carrying wisdom and good intentions, even the ones that cause pain or hold us back. At the core of IFS is the concept of the "Self": a calm, compassionate center within each of us that can lead our inner system toward healing.
How IFS Can Help You
What to Expect in IFS Therapy
IFS work is gentle, collaborative, and deeply respectful of your inner experience. In sessions, we slow down together and turn attention inward — getting curious about the parts that show up with anxiety, self-doubt, anger, or sadness. Over time, you learn to relate to yourself with greater compassion and understanding.
This approach is particularly effective for individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties. It works beautifully alongside other modalities including Polyvagal practices and Attachment Repair work.
I also work with Attachment Repair, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, and Trauma Therapy.
